Composer Íris Thorarins´s work is a dynamic collision of worlds: the raw, resonant strings of the guzheng and textures of the violin, harp and vocals meet the precise, atmospheric pulse of modern synths and electronics, bridging the organic with the immediate.
Drawing from the influence of Iceland's ever shifting light and shadow, she crafts soundscapes that explore dynamic tension and release, inviting introspection and creativity. This influence is palpable in her live performances and recorded works, such as “Fallax" original soundtrack for VR and her live track "Scarab"
Driven by relentless curiosity, Íris builds immersive sonic soundscapes. By exploring the character and range of an instrument or musical medium, deconstructing and reconstructing the voice, she builds resonant worlds, inviting listeners to step inside and find their own story within the sound.
Her live performances further showcase this spirit, often featuring spontaneous layering of music, that enables free-flowing, authentic musical exploration.
Beyond her original compositions, Íris´s projects have taken her across a wide spectrum of creative mediums, from composing scores for theatre, virtual reality, and video games to crafting sound for films and art installations.
